Say Hello to Adelaide

Adelaide

She is brilliant and intelligent with an inner light that shines to those around her. She walks with peace and security, knowing exactly who God has created her to be. She is strong and courageous with the determination to be the best version of herself she can be.

Her life in the slum looked entirely different from her life now. She is the youngest of two girls and lived with her grandmother, her parents passed away when she was very young.  It was difficult for Adelaide’s grandmother to provide food, clothing, and funds for her and her sister to go to school. While in the slum, Adelaide struggled to understand why she must live her life the way she did and blamed herself for all of the struggles she and her grandmother faced. She always bottled up her emotions as a way to be brave for her grandmother. But on the inside she was a broken little girl who desperately wanted to go to school. She was always very quiet and rarely smiled.  Now her life has done a 180. She gets to go to school and learn all the things she was missing out on before. She studies so hard to get the grades she needs to achieve her dreams of being a nurse. When asked why she wants to be a nurse she says “So I can make my grandmother proud one day.” She has big dreams and that’s all because of the opportunity given to her though her sponsorship. She has the ability to achieve anything her heart desires without worry of the future.
