She is the girl with the brains and the determination to accomplish anything her heart desires. She is the girl who always puts others first and shows love to everyone around her. She is the girl who is going to amazing places and is going to change peoples’ lives along the way.
Like most children growing up in Kipgongo, Cicilia’s parents passed away when she was very young. Her aunt and uncle took her in and cared for her as an obligation to her parents. Her aunt didn’t have a job and her uncle worked small jobs around town to try and earn some money, but it was never enough. Cicilia often went without food and without enough clothing for the cold, rainy nights in Kipsongo. Her aunt and uncle had children of their own and they would often put Cicilia last and leave her to fend for herself. As a result, she lacked most of her basic needs. She was neglected and unloved. When we first met Cicilia five years ago, she was soft spoken with a small glimmer in her eyes; a glimmer of hope. That glimmer has now turned into an amazing sparkle that shows her aspirations for her life and her future. She is top in her class and loves to help others with their studies. She knows the importance of education and she hopes to one day be a professor for a university so she can help others follow their dreams just as she gets to follow hers. She is no longer a sad, shy little girl- she has flourished into a strong and happy young lady whose future is as bright as her smile.
